It's here, it's here, it's here!!!
Baseball season has officially started for us and I couldn't be more excited for Nick's upcoming season with the Milwaukee Brewers Organization.
Normally, I have a love/hate relationship with off-season ending, but not this year, because we're heading to Arizona as a family.
So what is Spring Training? Sometimes I forget that some of my readers aren't familiar with the baseball world so I thought I would clue you guys in.
Spring Training is the preseason period of baseball where players prepare for the upcoming season. This training takes place in Arizona and Florida and is split up into two leagues - The Cactus League and Grapefruit League.
Spring Training is full of exhibition games preceding the start of the regular season. This time allows players to try out for roster and position spots, and gives them practice time prior to regular season starting.
When players head to Spring Training is dependent on your team and what position you play. For the Brewers, Pitchers and Catchers report by February 15th and by the 20th they are having their first full squad workout. Then by the 23rd games are already starting! After this Nick will have games almost everyday. This goes on until the end of March and then it's off to season!
So what will I be doing during Spring Training? I'll be working and going to Nick's games, of course! Games are usually around 1:00pm so I'll wake up early, get all of my work done, and head to the game to watch Nick do his thing. After that we'll probably relax or go explore our temporary city.
While I'm going to miss my family, friends and Texas, so dang much, I'm thrilled to have the opportunity to be with Nick while he pursues his dreams.
Now it's time for our 14 hour drive with the car loaded up and our sweet pup in tow. Wish us luck and I can't wait for all of you to follow along with us this season!
